Slateford Road – Edinburgh, Scotland

Pluto Finance are delighted to support Artisan Real Estate with their acquisition of the former Caledonian Brewery in Edinburgh after they secured planning permission for 168 apartments for sale including 40 affordable homes.

The site is ideally located with easy access to the city centre and with a high level of local amenity. 40 Slateford Road is one of the largest residential development sites in Edinburgh and the Artisan scheme will see the construction of beautifully designed and built apartments allowing the new owners to enjoy all that living in Edinburgh has to offer. The Artisan scheme will retain a key block from the brewery as well as the iconic listed chimney, preserving an important element of the city’s industrial heritage.

Jamie Drummond, Pluto’s Lending Director for Scotland commented: “The Artisan development will bring a disused brownfield site back to life providing much needed local housing supporting the city’s long- term sustainability. We’re delighted to be supporting Artisan with a project which balances regeneration, heritage, and inclusivity in a constrained urban market”

David Westwater from Artisan Real Estate added: “Pluto quickly understood our financing needs and were able to structure and deliver a term loan facility which allowed us to complete our acquisition of the Slateford Road site. We are looking forward to working with the team at Pluto as our development progresses.”

Alfie Idiens led completion for Pluto and would like to thank the professional team on both sides of Shepherd & Wedderburn, CBRE, and DLA for helping make this happen.
